Castle Dream
Castle Dream
1696
Come with me my little tuddle down to sleep: one, and
The sun has gone, the moon is up the stars come out to peep
The little blossoms down the lanes have closed their eyes for rest
And every little bird, my dear, is in the slumber nest
And I shall tell you what we’ll do; Ah, well, well ride afar
To find the little rainbow rays that dwell beyond the star,
And we shall put the armor on and go, like knights of old
Across the fields of fairyland to hunt the rainbow gold
We shall upon the silver dew all in the moonlight pale
Go forth within a swan-wing boat to sall, and sail and sail
And sofe the waves shall cradle you and soft the tide shall run
Until it rounds the little capes that L hide the morning sun
They may come out beneath the trees-the fairies dear-to dance,
And we shall see the fairy queen, the princess, too perchance,
And they shall touch us with their wands and with their wonder- gleam
So that we may go to th like they go take the Castle Dream
For Castle Dream’s a little cot, where-
on you slumber sweet
While all the golden fancy-folk go by so saft and deet;
With its jasper walls, my dear, a mo- ment more for thee
And thou within Its charmed de- mesne shall sleeping eBauty be
And all the night the stars shall watch and breeze at the dawn the
Shall touch the velvety of thy face and whisper melodies:
So let us to the castle hie, for now we’re almost there-
Oh, what a distance one can ride within & rocking-chair!
The gates are wide, the doors are ope, the coverlet is down-
Ah, princess of the bar, pink foot and of the nighty-gown
Be Queen within the Castle Dream and golden be thy sleep
Until across thy trundel bed morning sunbeams creep!- the-Baltimore Sun
