Nearly even the papors knock some other idol down;
Yesterday they spoiled the halo that
was work by Abner Brown-
Rich old, plus lookin’ Abner! Zeems an though it can’t be true
Why, the hings they charge agin him cumon thieves would hardly d
Took the man of poor orphans left In trust to him, they say.
And got rich by cheatin’ people in a alick and solemn way!
Yes, he uso look down on me, and perhaps he does so yit.
For I haven’t got much money, I’m earnin’ what I git! but

Money, money, money, money! Noth- In’s low or mean or vile,
‘Cordin’ to some people’s doctrine, if you only git your pile,
Any way to grab the profits; but aside the golden rule;
If you turn from tainted money they’ll regard you as a fool.
“Let your house become a brothel if
it pays to do the same,”
So they’ll tell you who’ve gone crazy in the money grabbin game-
Well, I s’pose that I’m old fashioned; I ain’t got no fortune ylt;
I’m a poor man, I acknowledge-but I’m earnin’ all I git!

They’re a-huntin’ Henry Waddums- lived in that fine house up there-
Got his fingers solled while tryin’ to become a millionaire.
Eben Hotchkiss has been stealin’; pa- pers they’ve exposed the case,
So the church has gone and bounced him and his fam’ly’s in disgrace ‘
Course there must be wealthy people who have made their money right,
But the tainted rogues and rascals loom up everywhere in sight.
Money, money, money, money! What won’t some folks do fer it?
Well, I ain’t got no big Income-but I’m earnin’ what I git!
