On a summer’s day, when the waves were rippled
By n soft and gentle breeze,
A ship set sall with a cargo laden
For port beyond the a sens.
There were fond farewells,
There were loving amiles,
While their forms were yet discerned;
Though they knew it not
“Twas a sad parting
For the ship that never returned.
Chorus-
Oh, she never returned!
No, she never returned.
And her fute is still unlearned.
For year’s and years there were fond hearts waiting
For the ship that never returned.
Said a feeble ind to his anxious mother:
“I must cross the deep blue sea,
For they say, perchance,
In a foreign climate
There is health and strength for me.
“Twas a kleam of hope in a maze of danger:
But her heart for her boy did yearn;
So she sent him forth with a kiss and blessing
On the ship that never returned,
Chorus,
“Just one more trip,” said the gullant seaman,
As he kissed his weeping wife:
“Just one more bag of the golden treasure
Will keep up All through lif life.
Then we will settle in a cozy cottage.
And enjoy the rest we’ve enrnet.
But, alus, poor man, he salled comunanding
The ship that never returned.
