The turkey struts the barnyard now,
Unmindful of the hours
Ere he will grace the festive board
Of Uncle Eara Powers,
He little knows that every eye
Is watching how he grows,
And extra feed he gets just to
Increase his adipose.

And that within a fow short weeks
He’ll lie upon a plate,
All trussed and roasted nice and brown,
And garnished up in state,
When Uncle Esra’s city friends,
In good old-fashioned way.
Come out to share his dinner there
On next Thanksgiving day.
