The Little German Home

The Little German Home
4533

I love to think about those days so full of fun and Joy
That never will come back again to me;
It was many, many years agone when but a little boy
I lived there so happy, light, and free
I used to play about all day and drive the cows and sheep
Until at higat, as tired as I could be
And when my evening prayer was said I would lay ine down to sleep
In that little German home across the sea

Chorus-
Wherever I may roam I don’t forget any home
That home it was so dear to me
And many, many times a day my thoughts they fly away
To that little German home geross the sеa

I never shell forget the day I left my fatherland
To sail across the stormy oczan foam:
My friends they came around me, they shock me by the band, ausing
They hoped that safely hack again I’d come
My father and my mothers they both stood in the door
And they said, “God bless you” unto me:
But now they are both dead and gone I never shall see them more,
In that little German home across the sea

I have traveled many weary miles around thir world for years
And it’s many more I yet expect to rгоа
But when my days are over, if it is for the best, it would giv mach: joy unto me,
If I could close ay eyelids up and lay me down to sleep
In that little German home across the sea
