See! At close of day in western sky.
Those mountain clouds shine like Sinait
Skirted with piumed tips aglow.
Are zilvered creats, like peaks of snow,
At foot of which gold tinged they pour
Light’s richer hues in waver galore
The art. the brush. this scene to take
True to pa pature is yet to make
The bright, long day, grown old.
Bids adieu in sliver and gold.
This subilme scene in evening skies
Ye behold afar from distant eyes,
‘Neath that cloud mass the rain may fall,
Or lightnings roar, the windstorm howl.
Pelting hall bounding, rattle round.
Scourging the tardy homeward bound,
While, housed and warm, children wonder
What’s the good of so much thunder:
And shadows fall on those below,
But far is seen the brilliant show.
These lights and shades do picture tue
The life of man with learning new
“Forles” stand round with solemn grunt
And scowl with darts, like lightning sent.
To wreck the new idea’s mast, A
nd thus in shades or peiting blast
The souls of great men sink to rest,
But later students call them blent.
They rest from care and work well done
Midst banks of gold in setting sun.
