Father, Mother And I

FATHER, MOTHER AND I
4642

We three have walked together,
In the days so long gone by:
When the world was seemed true;
Father and Mother and I new and all

You held my hand so surely,
Lest my wayward feet should stray
In the tangled wild, that lures each child
From the safe and open way

Then, we three walked together,
And my arms were round you thrown;
But Heaven drew nigh and you said good bye,
And I walked the way alone

But now, when the years have van- ished
And I sit neath the sunset skies;
I oft, in dreams, catch the spirit’s gleams,
And awake and lift my eyes,

I feel, that again together,
On the beautiful, heavenly shore
Where no years are told and no love grows cold,
We shall walk as we did of yore
