The golden leaflets fly
Around the breezy knoll
And wake our heartfelt sigh-
Anent the price of coal

The doughnut leaps in glee
And thrums its dainty lute,
And on the willow tree
Flip flaps the bathing suit

The lush persimmon drops
With pensive air serene,
The foot ball gayly pops
And bobs along the green

The rosy apple sports
In breezes cold and crisp,
And on the mere cavorta
The William of the wisp

The pancake’s on the wing
And by its song of cheer
As well as anything
We know that Autumn is here
