She Was Bred in Old Kentucky

When a lad I stood one day
By a cottage far away:
And that grand, day to me all nature seemed more
For my Sue, with blushes red,
Had just promised me to wed
And I’d came to ask her mother for her hund
As I told the old, old tale
Of my love it ne’er could fail
The gray haired mother stroked her daughter’s bend
And I faneled I could trace
Just a tear on her kind face
As she placed my sweetheart’s hand in mine and said:

Chorus-
“She was bred in old Kentucky
Where the meadow grass in shine
There is sunshine of her country
In her face and manner, too;
She was bred in old Kentucky
Take her Ind, you’re mighty picky
When you jurry a girl like Sue”

Many years have passed away
Since that well-remembered nay
When to th that old Kentucky horne I came,
And my linppiness through life
Was my sweetheart, friend, and wife,
For the sunshine of her heart remained the same

I an sitting all alone
In a pince we’ve long calle i honte
For yesterday my during passed away
And in tears I think with foy
Of that day when but a boy
That I took her hand and heard her motiter say:
Chorus
