Custer’s Last Charge

Custer’s Last Charge
3845

Who were those so nobly meeting
That wild rush of savage reds?
Husbands were they lovers, brothers,
Sleeping now in gory beds

Hark! A wall from Northland, Southland,
Mourning for our nobio slain;
Custer and his brave three hundres
We’ll hot mee on earth again

Grown to manhood, and a soldier,
Honored ever, loved by all
Excelled never, conquering always
Now our gallant hero falle

To have known him s’en so shortly
Is sweet music to the heart,
Altho’ tears of gali are welling
From our soule as thur we part

Wrap them in the folds of glory,
Simply due such soldier graves,
And may angels ever tarry
Near their lowly Western graves
