The Weeping Willow.
The Weeping Willow.
399.7
In yon kay old country churchyard
May be seen a grassy mound:
There is where my mother sleepeth
In the cold and silent ground.
Flowers round her grave ure blooming.
Feathered warblers sing their song.
But my heart is sad and lonely
Since my mother’s dead and gone.
Chorus-
Gently waves the weeping willows,
Feathered warblers sing their song,
But my heart is sad and lonely
Since my mother’s dead and gone.
I was young, but I remember
Well the night my mother died.
I sat watching, waiting, weeping.
Till she called me to her side.
Whispering “I’ll not see the morning,
Angela volces bid me come,
Trusting God in heaven I’ll meet you
When this earthly work is done.”
Oft I’ve wandered to the churchyard.
Tenderly I nursed the flower
O’er the green grave of my mother
I spent many lonely hours.
Looking at the skies above me,
Wondering if it will be lont
Till the angels come and call me
To that home where mother’s gone.
