Twas Our Last Good-by

Twas Our Last Good-By.
170.4

In the shade of a weeping willow,
Where the violets are in bloom.
Sleeps a fair and lovely maiden In the cold and silent tomb.
Once she and I were sweethearts;
She was faithful true, and braver
Now beneath a weeping willow
Is a freshly molded grave.

Chorus-
I never thought ’twas our laat good-by
As we parted ‘neath the old cim treet
I could hear the distant whippoorwill
As you softly said to me:
“I’ll be ever true, give my heart to you,
Until death shall break the tie’
As I closely pressed you to my breast
I never thought ’twas our last good-by.

As I gaas at a lifelike picture
I think of a summer day
When I reached the dear old homestead
And heard her dear old mother my
“She is sleeping in the valley,
The dear heart so brave and tree,
And when dying told us that she
Sald her last good-by to you.”
